What is Multimedia?
Multimedia involves computing and audiovisual technologies to fuse video, audio, text, graphics, animation etc in a meaningful way. It combines all these elements to create a real life experience.

Multimedia offers promising careers
Multimedia is still in its infancy and the awareness regarding its career prospects is very less. However there are promising career opportunities in the field.

The Internet has opened up a plethora of openings for multimedia professionals since multimedia can bring in tremendous dynamism to the medium. Industries like television, advertising, publishing and so on too demand multimedia professionals for their CD-ROM development, games and Website development etc.

Some positions for multimedia professionals

The animator has to produce animation to illustrate the text. They provide life, spirit and motion to the inanimate. They give life to the ideas of the author and the designer. A good animator should have computer graphics skills and also training in animation, which today comes as part of the multimedia courses.

Graphic artist
No one would deny the fact that graphics add life to the pages online as well as offline. Graphics are works of art and the graphic artist contributes them. He takes care of the layout and design aspects of the page too. The graphic artist should have expertise in software like Photoshop, which can help him in his work.

Video Technician
The visuals are very important. However visuals will be appealing only when it matches text. The video technician has to see that the visuals are appealing and appropriate. In addition to the other multimedia skills, the video technician has a thorough understanding of digitizing video.
